Following your hair transplant surgery, DOs and DON’Ts.
Your scalp will hurt and have small bumps and swelling. This happens to almost every person who has surgery. Among the top 10 surgeons in India will also give you some medicines to help with the pain, discomfort, and swelling.
The hair put into the scalp will start to fall out after a few days. This is normal and happens so new hair can grow from the transplanted follicles. After 6 to 9 months, most people can see results from their surgery. So you’ll have to be patient.
Regarding regular activities, patients can return to work a week or ten days after surgery.
Do’s after Hair Transplant Surgery
You need to keep some things in mind if you want to take care of your hair after a hair transplant In India. We’ve put them in the order below:
- For the first week, you must sleep with your head higher than your heart. This keeps the swelling from getting too bad and the transplanted hair follicles from dying from a lack of oxygen. In some people, the inflammation can last for the first 2-3 days or a week. Depending on the time, you may have to change how you sleep.
- Take the painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs that your doctor has given you. Most of the time, the best hair transplant surgeon in Delhi will also give you an antibiotic. You must take that if you don’t want to deal with infections.
- Use an ice pack above and around the eyebrows and around the forehead to reduce the swelling. Do this the first two or three days after surgery.
- For the first five days after surgery, wash your hair gently and don’t scratch it hard. This protects the hair follicles that have just been put in. Use a mug instead of standing under the shower to rinse your hair.
- After surgery, make sure you drink enough water. This helps you get better, keeps your skin from drying out, and keeps you healthy while you’re getting better.
Don’ts Following Hair Transplant Surgery
Even though it’s easier to follow the Dos, you should also be aware of the Don’ts. This is to make sure you are comfortable and help you get better faster. Some things you shouldn’t do after getting a hair transplant are:
- Stay away from sleeping directly on your stomach or your side. This can damage the newly implanted hair follicles and make them less healthy.
- Don’t put ice packs on the donor or recipient sites of surgery to keep follicles from getting hurt. If you touch or press on the follicles a lot after surgery, they won’t be able to grow into the scalp. Also, the ice packs can have bacteria and germs that can cause an infection if they touch the wounds.
- If your treated area is getting scabs, don’t touch them. It’s normal to want to scratch or itch at the scab. Doing so can make infections more likely and even leave scars that won’t go away. When the scab is fully healed, it will dry out and fall off.
- For the first two days after surgery, don’t wash your hair. This keeps you from getting hurt by harsh chemicals in the shampoo. Even when you use shampoo, use herbal shampoo with no chemicals, as the surgeon has told you to do.
- For the first week after surgery, don’t wear caps or hats. You don’t want to cover the surgical site with anything rough. Instead, you want to keep it open. This also helps people get better faster.
- After a week, if you leave the house, take an umbrella with you or wear a hat with a loose fit. This is to keep the scalp from getting sunburned at all costs. Also, if you’re at the beach, stay in the shade and don’t do anything too hard in the water.
- Don’t do any physical activities that might make you sweat. The salt that builds up on the scalp from sweat could slow the healing process and even cause pain.
- For the first 10 to 14 days after surgery, don’t smoke or drink alcohol. These bad habits make it harder to get better because they slow down the body’s blood flow.
